Services

Customers who bring their friends, and get credit for it.

Every customer gets a personal code. Friends who sign up count toward rewards, automatically, and nobody keeps score by hand.

  • A cookie shop's local campaign. A marketing partner came up with the idea. I designed and built the system: sign-up page, personal codes, friend invites, automatic credit, milestone rewards and a weekly deal text. 1,759 people signed up on their own, 1,071 referrals were credited, 166 free cookies were redeemed in store, and the shop's list grew to 2,232 contacts.

Fig. 1 · What it did

The problem

Your happiest customers would send friends. Nobody asks.

Word of mouth is your best channel and the one you can't see.

Even when you run a referral offer, someone tracks it in a spreadsheet, credit goes missing and rewards arrive late or never.

A referral system does the asking, the counting and the thanking on its own.

How it works

Referral system, start to finish

  1. 01
CodesEveryone who signs up gets a personal code and share link.
  2. 02
InvitesThey can add a friend right on the form, or share the link later.
  3. 03
CreditEach friend who signs up is credited to the right person, once, with rules that stop double counting.
  4. 04
RewardsMilestones trigger the reward text. Your staff check one box at the counter.

Questions I get

Is texting people allowed?
Only with their permission. The sign-up form collects it properly, and texting registration is part of the build.
What stops people gaming it?
Each friend counts once, and codes are tied to real phone numbers.
